Mamiya has announced the RZ22 digital medium format camera system, which features a 22MP 48 x 36 CCD sensor. Similar to the company’s previously released RZ33 medium format camera, the new camera features fully integrated electronics for direct communication with the digital back and provides image capture rate of 1.1 seconds per frame. The RZ22 is also compatible with all RZ system lenses and most accessories. The Mamiya RZ22 digital medium format camera system is currently available in the US market at a retail price of $11,499. Mamiya today announced the new Mamiya RZ33 large-sensor digital camera kit for professional photographers. This digital medium format camera features a high performance 33 megapixel CCD sensor with a sensitivity range of ISO 50-800. It is the first RZ series camera to feature fully integrated electronics for direct communication with the digital back. Other features include true 16 bit/channel RAW capture, built-in rotating sensor, ISO range of 50-800 and image capture rate of 1.1 seconds per frame. It is compatible with all RZ system lenses and most accessories. The Mamiya RZ33 will be available from July 2010 for $17,990. Each purchase comes with Capture One and Leaf Capture software. Mamiya is the pioneer of the large format gears, and they have been working together with Phase one since 2006, rumor said that Mamiya is bringing complementary abilities to company, but Toshio Midorikawa, president of Mamiya Digital Imaging argued that :

“Together, Phase One and Mamiya Digital Imaging own all competencies required for developing superior, innovative medium-format camera systems. Our combined expertise comprises digitalization, camera fine mechanics, optics design and production, and broad ranges of software and firmware capabilities,” he said. “And as a result of our close collaboration, new products are just around the corner. We plan to introduce both new leaf shutter lenses and even more super lightweight focal plane shutter lenses in 2009. We aim to offer the world’s widest range of medium format lenses for Mamiya and Phase One camera platforms.”
