Jeff-c give the image samples to fotoactualidad, he took from ISO 50 to 3200.
The Nikon D3X produces sharp and low image noise up to Iso 800. At Iso 1600 the noise is slightly higher, but it still retains subtle detail.
With D3x’s samples, you can judge the quality by yourself.

It’s a D3X’s sensor rumor on NR
Nikon D3x sensor – made by Sony, designed by Nikon
based on cnet
Prior to the official launch there was quite a bit of speculation as to how similar the sensor in the D3X is to that in the Sony Alpha DSLR-A900. At the launch, Nikon officials were at pains to point out that although the D3X’s sensor is manufactured in a Sony plant, it’s still very much “a Nikon designed sensor”.
So if the sensor similar with Sony A900, the image quality probably similar also, if that so, why don’t you buy Sony Alpha A900 for 3K instead Nikon D3X ?
