Carl Zeiss today introduced a new Lightweight Zoom lens for filmmakers, which comes with interchangeable mounts that allow it to be used with a wide range of cameras, from traditional cine to HDSLR systems. Three different mounts are available such as PL, EF and F mount. Weighing in at around 2Kg, the Carl Zeiss Lightweight Zoom LWZ.2 features radically shaped spherical glass surfaces with a very strong curvature. Large-diameter aspherical lens elements keep the lens light while at the same time reducing spherical aberrations and keeping the image free of distortions. The new lens is currently being showcased at the NAB show in Las Vegas. [Photography Bay]

Sony Carl Zeiss 16-35mm f/2.8 Lens Review at Alpha Mount World and got “Highly Recommended” from them. This wide angle Zeiss is a natural pairing for Sony A900 owners, promising superior optics, optimal build quality, and yes, a substantial price tag. Read full review here

Sharpness overall is exemplary on this lens, less wide open to mid apertures (f2.8 to f5.6) in the corners at 16mm which to be fair, aren’t really a setting that this lens is intended to be used at anyways.
