Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 Released In Japan

Panasonic has decided to launch the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 in the Japanese market. As a successor to the popular Panasonic LX3, the new model features a more flexible 24-90mm equivalent lens with a bright F2.0-3.3 maximum aperture range and a comparatively large 10MP CCD sensor in a small body. Additional features include the Power OIS image stabilization, a 3-inch LCD display with 460,000 pixels and an improved color reproduction, a new Venus Engine FHD processor, a RAW/ RAW+JPEG support, a face detection/recognition with auto red-eye correction, an HDMI output and a 40MB onboard memory, which is expandable via an SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 can also record 720p movies with Dolby Digital Stereo sound using AVCHD codec. This camera uses the DMW-BCJ10 lithium-ion battery that provides up to 400-shot per charge. Available in white and black, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 will be released on August 20th, 2010 for 60,000 Yens ($698).
