Leica Summilux-M 35mm/f1.4 ASPH Lens

Leica comes back with a revised version of the Summilux-M 35mm f1.4 ASPH lens that will serve as a companion for all M-Series Leica rangefinders such as the Leica M9. The new Leica Summilux-M 35mm/f1.4 ASPH lens uses a floating element, which keeps the outstanding imaging performance at a very high level even at closest focusing distance. The floating element means that the lenses behind the aperture blades are constructed as a floating group that changes its position relative to the front lens group during focusing. What’s more, the lens also features a full-metal, rectangular, screw-mount lens hood. The Leica Summilux-M 35mm/f1.4 ASPH should be available in July 2010 at an initial retail price of £3,375 ($4,995). [dpreview]
