Sigma UK has announced the price and availability of the DP2 digital compact camera. This 14MP compact has a 24.2mm f/2.8 lens, True II image processing engine, and records in RAW as well as JPEG format. Retail price £599.99 and the optional VF-21 Viewfinder and HA-21 Hood adapter are available for £114.99 and £19.99 respectively. [ dpreview ]

Actually, the Sigma Corporation has announced three new lenses at PMA 09, the first one we posted already, it was 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM, and there are two more new lenses there.
The second lens is Sigma 18-50mm F2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM is the lens with large aperture image-stabilized standard zoom. This large aperture and anti-shale function is ideal for indoor photography and in low lighting condition. Designed for DSLRs with APS-C/DX sized image sensors, it will be available in Sigma, Canon, Nikon, Sony and Pentax mounts. [ Source dpreview ]
On the compact camera side, the Sigma DP2 is the latest camera from the manufacturer to use the sensor from a DSLR (in this case, the SD14/SD15′s 14.1 megapixel Foveon X3) in a fixed-lens compact.These new model’s specifications are largely identical to the DP1′s but it comes with a 41mm lens. Sigma offers improved processing speed, operation and performance.
The DP2 is equipped with a pop up (manual) built-in flash. It is possible to use Normal Flash, Red-Eye Reduction Flash and Slow Synchro Mode. It also features flash exposure compensation in 1/3 stops increments. Manual Focus is available for use when autofocus or focus lock is not effective. We can say full spec DSLR packed into the body of a compact camera.
