Do you still remember the Pentax Special Robot Edition K-r DSLR that we posted back in December 2010? This limited edition DSLR camera comes in a bright, multi-colored body and a robotic head that fits into the flash hotshoe. Pentax USA and Walmart will launch the new Pentax K-r in limited edition colors such as pink, purple, blue, green, yellow, navy, metallic brown, gold and silver. My favorite is the silver model. 
Each new color kit will be launched with an 18-55mm lens and several advanced features. Too bad, there is no info on pricing or availability so far. More pictures after the jump. Read more…
Pentax today announced the availability of the new firmware update version 1.01 for the Pentax Q compact digital camera. The new firmware update improves the resolution when the in-camera sharpening level is set to “Fine Sharpness”. The firmware also improves overall stability. The Pentax O-GPS1 is an add-on GPS unit for the Pentax K-5, K-r and 645D DSLR cameras. Mounted on the camera’s hotshoe, the O-GPS1 GPS unit records latitude, longitude, altitude, and universal time coordinated (UTC) of shooting locations with captured images. Image files with this GPS data may be used to track shooting locations and review location data on a personal computing device. The GPS location data also helps sort and file recorded images. Pentax has collaborated with Warner Bros. to release a DC Super Heroes-inspired collection of personalized Pentax Optio RS1500 cameras. The limited edition RS1500 camera will come in a specially designed package, including seven different skins depicting the well known super heroes and super villains characters (Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Superman, Catwoman and The Joker), a 4 GB SD card, and a special Green Lantern protective camera case. Timed to coincide with the release of a new Warner Brothers action-adventure film, Green Lanterns, the Pentax Optio RS1500 DC Super Heroes collector pack will be available from May 1st, 2011 for £119.99 (US$196) each. The Pentax Optio RS1500 is a unique compact digicam that features interchangeable cosmetic skins and lens rings. The camera comes equipped with 10 ready-made unique front skins. You can also easily customize the camera by-yourself because it comes with five blank pre-cut paper foils. Specifications on the Pentax Optio RS1500 include a 14-megapixel sensor, a 3-inch LCD display, a 4x optical zoom (equivalent to 28-112mm in 35mm) and HD video recording (1280×720 pixels, 30fps).
